Cork based artist, Patrick Hatchett is an established guitarist, composer, re-mixer and producer. He divides his time between composing for screen and performing live, collaborating with the likes of Jerry Dammers (The Specials) Spatial AKA, the Soothsayers (Wah Wah 45 records), Yesking (BBE Records) Nextmen (Universal) and the UK’s finest ska/rocksteady outfit the Topcats.

Graduating In 2000, after a 3-year study in composition and ethnomusicology, he joined South London’s ‘Topcats’, where he honed his skills and love of the authentic Ska/Rocksteady sound of the 60’s/70’s Jamaica. Loved by the masses and hugely respected by those-in-the- know, from Europe, to Japan, to the Caribbean. Fronted by London’s hippest Natty Bo, Topcats, 20-years on, continue 'to mash up the dance' across the continent.

In 2008, Patrick joined the Soothsayers. Master musicians bringing African dub, reggae, funk and jazz to stages across the UK and Europe. They hold claim to the longest and coolest residency gig - The Effra - where old Brixton meets the new over pints, dominoes and live music. Appearing on 'Human nature' -Red Earth Records, 'Nothing Can Stop Us' Strut Records, 'Blinded Souls E.P. - ‘Traditions’ LP WahWah 45.

Recording countless sessions, performing on stage, T.V and Radio, with artists such as Jamaican vocalists Johnny Clarke, Cornell Campbell, Dennis Alcapone, Roy Shirley, Little Roy and UK Loversrock artists Dennis Bovell, Janet Kay and Carol Thompson.

Joining Jerry Dammers in his Spacial AKA Orchestra, resulted in large shows for London Jazz Festival, Performances on ‘Later With Jools Holland’ BB2, and a specially commissioned re-recording of 'Free Nelson Mandela' to mark his passing for Channel 4.
The Orchestra boasted the cream of London’s improvising musicians, including Shabaka Hutchings, Denys Babtist, Zoe Rahman, and encouraged wildly exuberant Sun Ra-esque performances for 3-hours or more!

Other influences came from working alongside Togolese musician; Kodjovi Kush’s ‘Afrospot Allstars’ - with legendary drummer Kofi Adu and djembe guru Baba Addcosee Wallace from Nigeria. ‘Palm wine style fingerpicking, to fuzzing afro-rock breakouts’. Appearing on recent 'Kodjovi Kush and the Afrospot Allstars recent release on Choptime music.
In the studio, following a successful remix project, Patrick joined forces with Brad Baloo of the Nextmen and co-wrote two tunes for their ‘Join the Dots’ Album on Universal records.

A further opportunity, through Mark Rae (Rae and Christian), partnered Patrick with producer Rhys ‘Yesking’ Adams, resulting in a remix series including; Amy Whinehouse, Billie Holiday, Dj Vadim, Recloose feat Joe Dukie, Sam Duckworth.
The pair then co-wrote ‘Re-record not fade away’- taking control of much of the instrumental duties and harmonic writing, Patrick brought a raw live feel to the proceedings. The album, released on BBE records, was well received, leading to extensive radio play TV syncs and live shows, with Madness at Alexandra Palace, Newark Festival, Womad and Glastonbury. Album contributors included U.K. Hip Hip guru Mystro aka Mysdiggi, Mel Oye Parker and Celtic-soul extraordinaire Rioghnach Connolly (Honeyfeet, The Breath, Realworld). This eclectic blend of styles, sounds, energy and characters echoed Patrick’s musical make-up to perfection.

A recent solo project K3:lu (pronounced Curlew) is a recording and live project that has gained great support across UK and Ireland with radio support from BBC 6 Music, Worldwide FM, NTS, RTE 2FM, 2XM, RTE RnG, Dublin Digital Radio, Soho Radio, WKRC, and more. Gigs include Another Love story, Body and Soul Festivals.

In 2013 Patrick started working with long time collaborator Wayne Roberts of BlipAudio and has gone onto score multiple global TV shows including RTS awarding winner and BAFTA nominated ‘The Dog House’ for HBO and Channel 4.
